Our History
FruitFast grew from a Northern Michigan family fruit business that began in 1945. What started with farm produce, honey and regional fruit products evolved into jarred goods, concentrated juices and fruit-based specialty products.
Today, FruitFast and Brownwood Acres continue that work from northern Michigan, about 30 miles north of Traverse City.
The Short Answer
Our story is really about fruit. Generations of sourcing, processing, bottling and talking directly with customers shaped how we approach concentration, cold handling and product quality today.
From Roadside Market to Fruit Concentrates
Our family began by selling farm products and working with the fruit grown throughout the region. Jarred cherry products became an important part of the business, followed by a growing focus on fruit juice concentrates.
As the concentrate line expanded, FruitFast added tart cherry, wild blueberry, pomegranate, aronia, cranberry, grape, beet and other fruits for retail and commercial customers.
CherryFlex & Whole-Fruit Formats
Our CherryFlex line grew from a separate interest in concentrated whole-fruit tart cherry ingredients, including skin and pulp. That line now sits alongside our juice concentrates rather than replacing them—giving customers different formats for different routines.
